Good morning everyone! I couldn't help myself. There was no way I was going to be able to limit myself to comment on just 5 blogs, especially since there are only 9 of us in the class. It was fun reading about all of you. Although there is as much as 31 years between me and most of you, I look at age as just a number. This is a fine example of how I live my slogan, Life-It's All About Choices. It would be very easy for me to make excuses for not being able to post on your blogs because we virtually have nothing in common. But I CHOSE to find something that I could relate to with each of you. It made the task so much easier to accomplish. :-)
Today is going to be a busy one. My son recently got his IHSAA referee's license for baseball, softball and track and field. I'm going out to watch him for the first time umpire girls softball. Tony is my special needs child. The summer after his 3rd grade, he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. Although he is VERY high functioning in the classroom, he does not have instinctual social behaviors. You might consider him to be a geek or odd duck. He's very knowledgeable on any number of subjects and often thinks everyone wants to know what he knows....about lacrosse or planets or chess. He's a huge sports enthusiast however, he was always the one who would much rather read the rule book than actually play the game. Needless to say, this umpiring is right up his alley.
Also on the agenda for today is getting one of our bathrooms ready for a makeover. New tiled floor and tub surround, new toilet and sink, reglazing the bathtub and a new coat of paint. The tile guy is starting this week and the tub glazer will be here the week after. I've been wanting to do this project for about 5 years so I'm really looking forward to starting the demolition this weekend.
Tomorrow, I will probably spend some time on doing a better job of customizing my blog. Many of you are very creative and I saw some things I would like to incorporate.
Only 3 more days of work... WoooHooo!

So..I took a look at your "About Me" description of your profile, and I saw that your daughter is in Belles et Beaux!! I only attended our township's public high school, Lawrence Central, for my freshman year before transferring to Heritage Chrisitan, but I was in Sweet Sensations, the all-girls showchoir, and I can say that I was then and I still am in love with show choir! I had an extremely rough freshman year, and knowing that I got to spend the weekends competing with my girls in Sweets helped me make it through! Heritage doesn't allow dancing of any kind, and therefore does not have a showchoir, just a competition choir, and that was the only thing that made me hesitate to transfer. One of the girls in Sweets with me actually transferred to Plainfield at some point in her high school years and was in Belles et Beaux, so for the most part, I think Central Sound (the mixed show choir at LC), Sweets, and Belles et Beaux have a pretty good relationship :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your family is a lot like mine: always busy, always something going on. This weekend, for example, my dad and brother have a full weekend of baseball tournaments (my dad coaches!), I've got my social schedule and babysitting jobs, my sister has open houses to attend, and my mom has laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping to do! Busy, busy!
Christine I like your title your a post hog. It made me giggle. I wish I had more time to blog and play around but at the moment I am taking three classes total and it makes it hard. I am going to enjoy coming back and your reading your blogs because you are so descriptive in what you say and how you explain what your doing. Keep up the good work! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL Jordan, my daughter told me earlier this evening that I should have started blogging years ago because I was so funny. I don't think I'm that funny, it just seems that funny things happen to me. And I'm okay with that! :D
ReplyDeleteYou know, I admire it when young ladies come out to play frisbee. The group of people I play in usually has one or two girls show up. It really disappoints me when no one throws them the frisbee. Some of the sweetest plays I have ever seen on the field came from the girls. Tell her to stick with it!
ReplyDeleteI see you like classical music. Actually, heavy metal has been called the classical music of today. A lot of historians said that is Bethoven had been alive today, he might have been a member of Led Zepplin, and Tchaikovsky (however you spell the man's complicated name) would have been in Deep Purple. A modern day band I think you might like is Coheed and Cambria. What's really interesting about them is that their music is all one huge story. They even have comic books out that tell the story even better. It's pretty awesome.
Zerkzees. That's priceless.
I understand how the whole work thing goes. I've work at the same place for four years now, and I dread going to work when I just started a weeklong vacation. Blaaaaah. Wouldn't it be nice to hit the lotto?
It really is a small world isn't it! It was funny seeing your name pop up under the forum blog's. I knew the name was familiar. So yes, I am studying Elementary Ed. at Indiana University and decided to get some credits out of the way this summer while being home. I'm thinking about teaching the older grades such as 4th and 5th. I keep on hearing that male educators are needed so it's always nice to hear that I'm doing something positive.
